S.L. Jones
(1901-1997)
Shields Landon Jones was born in Franklin County, Virginia, and moved to West Virginia as a boy. He worked for 45 years for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad; after his retirement he returned to his boyhood hobby of woodcarving. He is most well-known for his life-size busts and standing figures; his drawings were another creative outlet, one he turned to more frequently as his age advanced and he was no longer able to carve.
