Felix Virgous

(b. 1948) Memphis, TN

Felix Virgous, a Memphis artist discovered by Lonnie Holley and William Arnett in 1987, painted from ca. 1960 until sometime in the 1990s. He used wood paneling scraps, sometimes canvas board, and often wrapped the edges in masking tape before executing the images, which were typically based on Biblical subjects. His current status/whereabouts are unknown, though it is believed that he is no longer making art.
